Tom has been coaching classes on the fitness side since 2013, and loves integrating creative programming into his workouts. Utilizing his experience as a college strength and conditioning coach, Tom leans toward dynamic and plyometric moves, aimed to improve speed, agility, and quickness. Don’t be surprised if you end up pushing the prowler or leaping hurdles during one of his classes.

Vance finds working with individuals and seeing the changes and improvements in their quality of life one of the most rewarding aspects of being a CrossFit Instructor.
A North Carolina native and former Tennis player, Vance progressed into training and coaching tennis after her playing career . She brings the core strengthening techniques and benefits of CrossFit, and her knowledge of sports performance, to help athletes improve their game, challenge their speed and agility, and obtain a well-rounded level of fitness. You can find Vance coaching either TRX or CircuitFit here at Atlas, and her classes are so popular they frequently have a wait list!
Zack saw how CrossFit gave him an effective avenue to train and stay fit with gains that outweighed the strength, speed and agility he found in other competitive athletic training programs.
After playing linebacker at University of Redlands, Chicago native Zack wanted to continue developing his fitness levels and searched for a new training workout. After coming across CrossFit he completely redesigned his ideas on fitness, following the techniques, methodology and philosophy behind CrossFit training. With his athletic background, his passion as an Instructor at Atlas Performance is to help others get the most out of their bodies by creating a motivating and efficient training environment.
Alison has always had a love of fitness and healthy living. Starting out as a member at Atlas and loving the community and camaraderie of members and coaches at Atlas, she naturally evolved in to coaching.
When taking Alison’s class, you can expect a unique and challenging fusion of full body compound movements. Alison puts a lot of time and effort writing her workouts, incorporating movements from a variety of different modalities of fitness – TRX, pilates, and kettlebells to name a few. Members enjoy her creative and effective programming, and appreciate the time and energy she puts into every class; including her fun, energetic and motivating music. If you think Alison lays awake at night thinking about how to torture you (in the best way possible), that just might be true.
Matt enjoys coaching because he loves to help people achieve something they may have thought to be impossible by encouraging and pushing them past their comfort zones. At Atlas Matt finds that people want to be pushed and have fun with it, making the experience that much more enjoyable. Matt feels his best when someone walks out of class saying that it was hard, but fun.Matt was a 3 year starter on the Eastern Michigan Football team from 1998-2000, and graduated in 2001. Matt didn’t stop his athletic career in college though. He was the captain of both the South Side Irish and Chicago Lions Rugby Clubs and was even invited to the USA Rugby National team camp in 2010. Currently Matt is a teacher and football coach at Br. Rice High School.
As a California native, Kaity found her affinity for fitness by spending all of her spare time outdoors. After a college soccer career, Kaity moved to Chicago and quickly discovered Atlas Performance. She felt that Atlas provided her with a similar competitive and energetic environment that she had just experienced in college. Coupling Kaity’s athletic background with her enthusiasm for helping others achieve their goals are what makes coaching so enjoyable to her.
After a successful collegiate football and track career came to an end, Freddy began coaching at Atlas early on. Passionate about seeing others strive to be the best they are capable of becoming, Freddy coaches to motivate those to achieve their great potential through fitness. Freddy’s exposure to elite athletics, world class sports performance, and Texas roots, provide Atlas members with a distinct fitness experience that will challenge abilities and improve skills.
Quinn played Football at Quincy University and has been an active member of the Atlas community from very early on. It wasn’t until 2013 though that Quinn began coaching, and he has continued to expand his repertoire since. Quinn is also a competitive CrossFit athlete.
Meredith started coaching at Atlas in early 2014. A former All-American college rower at Columbia (NYC), Meredith loves CrossFit because it gives her a competitive outlet that makes her feel like she is on a team again. Outside of the gym Meredith works at a sports marketing agency, is married, and has a Frenchie named Spud that she loves to instagram about. Follow her: @Meredith_Lester
In the rare times he is home in Chicago, JS spends every moment he can at Atlas. Coaching Circuitfit and subbing for TRX, Fit360 and Crossfit. JS also serves as Atlas’ de facto handyman, repairing and maintaining equipment.
JS’ passion is seeing an athlete’s improvement in both fitness and efficiency. He loves the community that has been built at Atlas, and looks forward to its further growth. Whether he is coaching or taking a class, JS looks forward to cheering you on during a workout.
